News this week on the DSE News Network is that the Rotary Club of Morningside is set to host the International Women Multisector Conference, Targeting Economic Empowerment for Women and Youth.

The Rotary Club of Morningside has partnered with the Yes We Can Business Women Network and Hearts Unlimited to host the upcoming International Women Multisector Conference, an initiative the club says aligns directly with Rotary International’s area of focus on Economic and Community Development.

Rotary believes “sustainable communities are built when people are equipped with the skills, opportunities, networks and resources they need to create economic growth and improve their quality of life,” the club said in a statement.

Globally, Rotary members support entrepreneurship, vocational development, financial literacy, and community-led economic initiatives, with a particular emphasis on women and young people.

Locally, the Rotary Club of Morningside has made the upliftment of women and youth entrepreneurs a key priority within its service area.

The event also carries special significance for the club’s leadership. Incoming President Jennifer Grefen, the first female President-elect of the Rotary Club of Morningside, has adopted women and youth empowerment as one of her key focus areas for the year ahead.

“We recognise that entrepreneurship is one of the most effective ways to address unemployment, create sustainable livelihoods and build resilient communities,” Greffen said. The conference is designed to bring together entrepreneurs, professionals, investors, policymakers and development partners to share knowledge, create partnerships and unlock new opportunities.

The club is urging potential attendees not to miss the opportunity: “My message to anyone considering attending is simple: invest in yourself and your future.

The conference offers practical insights, access to industry experts, networking opportunities, funding discussions and valuable connections that can help accelerate your personal, professional and business growth.” she reiterated

Organisers if the event say the platform will cater to a broader audience, from aspiring entrepreneurs to established business owners, professionals and young leaders.
“Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, an established business owner, a professional or a young leader, there will be opportunities to learn, connect and be inspired,” the IWMC spokesperson added.

The partnership underscores Rotary’s ongoing commitment to driving economic development from the community level up.

“Together, we can create stronger businesses, stronger communities and a more prosperous future for women and youth across Africa,” the club said.
