Open Letter to Mr. Bernard Marriot Lusengo
Dear Mr. Marriot Lusengo,
For more than half a century, Dynamos Football Club has been more than just a team. It has been a symbol of pride, unity, and identity for millions of Zimbabweans at home and abroad.
Generations have grown up celebrating its victories, defending its legacy, and carrying its blue-and-white spirit into every corner of the world.
That legacy was built not by individuals alone, but by a collective force, the supporters, the players, the technical teams, and the leadership working in harmony.
Today, the voices of the Dynamos FC supporters are calling out with clarity and urgency. They are asking for a renewed path, a fresh vision, and a leadership structure that reflects the values and aspirations of the club’s vast community.
They are asking for the opportunity to participate in shaping the future of the team they love.
It is in this spirit that I respectfully appeal to you, as the custodian of this great institution, to consider giving supporters the voice to choose an Executive that can steer Dynamos FC back to its rightful place as the best football club in Zimbabwe.
As supporters we value the club and it’s longevity in the premiership, as for many years through our patronage we have literally sustained the club.
We feel pained when a team of history and pedigree like Dynamos fight relegation instead for honours. Players come and leave Dynamos at will because of poor administration and lack of clear vision.
What It Will Take to Restore Dynamos FC to Its Glory
For Dynamos FC to thrive and rekindle past glory key benchmarks must be put in place:-
- A transparent and democratic governance structure that allows stakeholders — especially supporters — to participate meaningfully in leadership selection. The governance structure must be accountable to the club and supporters
- A professional, modern football administration with expertise in club management, marketing, youth development, and financial sustainability.
- A long-term football philosophy that prioritizes youth development, tactical identity, and continuity in coaching.
- A strong relationship with supporters built on communication, trust, and shared decision-making.
- Investment in infrastructure such as training facilities, sports science, and player welfare systems.
- A culture of accountability and performance where every leader, player, and staff member is held to the highest standards.
- Strategic partnerships and sponsorships that bring financial stability and open new opportunities for growth.
These are not demands — they are aspirations shared by people who love Dynamos deeply and want to see it thrive again.
A Moment of Legacy
Mr. Marriot, history has placed you in a unique position. You have the opportunity to be remembered not only as a guardian of the club’s past, but as the visionary who opened the door to its future.
By empowering supporters and embracing a modern, inclusive leadership model, you would be setting Dynamos on a path that honours its heritage while preparing it for greatness in the years ahead.
The supporters are not asking to take away your legacy. They are asking to help you protect it.
Dynamos FC belongs to the nation. Its success lifts communities, inspires youth, and strengthens the fabric of Zimbabwean football.
The time has come to unite all stakeholders behind a shared mission: bringing back the glory days.
With respect and hope,
A Concerned Supporter of the Glamour Boys
Kennedy Mapesa Mandaza
